Happy October all! I love this month! Not only is it starting to get warm in Australia but its getting closer to the holiday period and closer to my favorite holidays! Halloween and Christmas! Okay.. so in Australia we don’t celebrate Halloween as amazingly as America does, and it actually sucks! I find it so fun and so exciting and would do anything to experience an American Halloween! That being said.. I wish we celebrated thanks giving too.. I mean, another excuse to be around family, friends and food? Who would want that! Just because Australia doesn’t celebrate Halloween, does not mean I don’t get into the spirit or enjoy it! I actually LOVE it!! I always use October to carve pumpkins, dress the house up in orange, fall colours and watch my favorite Halloween movies.. So I though why not do a few posts this October that are Halloween related, and today ive decided to focus on some of my favorite Halloween movies! Some scary, some gory and some great for a laugh and appropriate for you and your family. Lets do this!

HOCUS POCUS: Honestly I have seen this film so many times, and it never stops being funny and it never gets old! I am obsessed! Not only has it got an incredible cast (Bet Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker) but its appropriate for all ages! It’s a Walt Disney film that focuses around 3 witches coming back from the dead to cause mayhem on All Hallows Eve to ensure they can stay on Earth forever. It’s an adventure packed film which will have you laughing.. And maybe even crying! I’ve seen this film so many times and often make my Boyfriend sit through it with me.  It is such an incredibly made Halloween film and will really get you in the spirit! Bet Midler plays such an amazing part as the main, head sister and keeps you entertained throughout the whole film. My favourite line from the movie? When Winnie (Bet Midler) yells “SISTAAAAHSS” everytime she wants her sister’s attention, and Im  sure if you have seen the film, you would have just read that in her voice! This is definitely one of my all-time favourites.

ADDAMS FAMILY VALUES: Okay, I love EVERYTHING to do with the Addams family! They are crazy! I love the original Adams family film as well, however Addams family values is such a funny, eventful film and is definitely one I love to watch around Halloween. Its definitely a family friendly film too, and great for a night in with your loved ones. It’s so funny, so entertaining but still spooky at the same time.  The film has all your favourite characters, even ‘Thing’ is in the film. The layout, props and costumes are incredible and really bring the fiction to life. I couldn’t think of anything better then snuggling up on the couch watching Addams family and Addams Family values on Halloween night!

HALLOWEEN MOVIES: Okay, I cant chose one of these. These are for all of you who love to be scared and are into the Gore, I definitely don’t recommend these for family night that’s for sure! The Halloween collection has been going on for as long as I can remember, there really is so many films and I believe all of them deserve to be watched! The film series began in 1978 and stars a young Jamie Lee Curtis when (Michael Meyers.) kills his 17 year old sister, and when he is released from prison 15 years later, he is back to cause more heartache. Halloween II is a continue on from that, and the films go on! There is currently 10, with an 11th being made! Its crazy and they are all worth watching! The story line is creepy and perfect for Halloween. You watch Jamie Lee Curtis grow up and she plays such an incredible role! I highly recommend checking them all out – You can head to http://halloweenmovies.com/the-films/ for more info on all the films.

DRAG ME TO HELL: Okay, I know, This film inst everyone’s cup of tea, there is a mix of reviews, some people loved it, some people hated it and thought it was horrible. I personally enjoyed it and think its a great one for Halloween and for a good spook. The film is about a loan officer turns down an ageing gypsy’s application only to face down a dark curse that threatens to steal her soul. There are so many moments in the film that will have you jumping and a surprising laughing too. Its a great one to watch with friends who also love horror films! I personally didn’t find the film scary, but the story line is great and the jumpy parts will really make you jump!

THE CONJURING: Okay, Ill admit it- this film scared me and its still one I refuse to watch by myself! Its based on the true case studys of the Warrens which makes it even scarier. In 1970, paranormal investigators and demonologists Lorraine (Vera Farmiga) and Ed (Patrick Wilson) Warren are summoned to the home of Carolyn (Lili Taylor) and Roger (Ron Livingston) Perron. The Perrons and their five daughters have recently moved into a secluded farmhouse, where a supernatural presence has made itself known. Though the manifestations are relatively benign at first, events soon escalate in horrifying fashion, especially after the Warrens discover the house’s macabre history. The film with have you on the edge of your seat, I covered my eyes so many times the first time I saw this film. The story line, acting and suspense is incredible and I recommend this to all who love to be scared and who dont scare easy, because Im sure that this film will freak you out! Its definitely one of the scariest horror films ive seen in a long time! Perfect for a fright night, Halloween special!

ANNABELLE: Okay so this film was done by the team who created the conjuring and its definitely obvious! This film freaked me out! Its based on events that took place before the Conjuring and its super scary. The film is full of jumpy parts and full of suspense, its another film I refuse to watch alone. Its based on a doll that gets possessed by an evil, satanic lady who killed herself to possess the doll. This film will have you at the edge of your seat, scared. Whats scarier than a possessed little girl? I can tell you, I possessed DOLL that looks like a little girl. Watch it with people guys, dont watch it alone if you don’t want nightmares! I literally had to take teddy’s and dolls out of my house it freaked me out that much!

SCREAM (4 FILMS): These were some of my favourite scary movies (No pun intended). When I was younger I thought they were super scary, and super realistic! The First scream, ‘Scream’ was released in 1996 and starred incredible actors such as  Neve Campbell,Courteney Cox, Drew Barrymore, and David Arquette.Scream is based around the character of Sidney Prescott (Campbell), a high school student in the fictional town of Woodsboro, California, who becomes the target of a mysterious killer known as Ghostface. The film has so much suspense and really leaves you wanting to know what happens to Sidney, that’s when number 2 came out and everyone went crazy! There are 4 films and they all star Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox and David Arquette. Every film has such suspense and keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering who will survive and who want, Its such a mystery- can you find out who the killer is in each film?

BEETLEJUICE: Okay, I know this film isn’t scary, but its a classic and is perfect for your friends and family who don’t enjoy being scared or frightened. The film is based around a couple who die in a car crash and are told by the ghosts they need to remain in their house for 150 years, that doesn’t bother them until their house is sold and a family completely opposite to them move in, and they do all they can to move them out.. they employ beetle juice to help remove them from the house.. and that’s when things take a turn for the worst! Its such a funny, enjoyable creepy- weird film to watch! Its one that will have you giggling and ‘ewing’ through the whole film!

DISTURBIA: Okay Yes, This inst a Supernatural film, but its a Thriller and its one of my favourites! Starring Shia Labeouf as a teen on house arrest who starts spying on his neighbours and has suspicions that one is in fact.. a serial killer. The film is funny, suspenseful and thrilling and the story line and the way the film plays out is so entertaining and so well done! For you all who love thrillers, suspense and trying to figure out the killer and what’s going on – this film is definitely for you. You get to see Kale (Labeouf) get the girl of his dreams too!

CORPSE BRIDE: How could I do this list without one cartoon film directed by Tim Burton?! The Corpse Bride was always one of my favourites growing up! The film is about Victor (Johnny Depp) and Victoria’s (Emily Watson) families have arranged their marriage. Though they like each other, Victor is nervous about the ceremony. While he’s in a forest practicing his lines for the wedding, which he is super nervous about, suddenly a tree branch swoops and drags him to the land of the dead. It belongs to Emily, who was murdered after marrying with her love and now wants to marry Victor. Victor must get back to the land of the living and above ground Victoria marries the villainous Barkis Bittern (Richard E. Grant). The film is absolutley incredible and will have you laughing, and possibly even crying. I suggest closing your blind though, its a dark film and watching it with sunlight shinning.. you will only see your reflection ha-ha! Any film that stars Johnny Depp, acting or just voice over- I’ll watch! He’s incredible.

There you have it guys, My top 10 favourites for Halloween! Yes.. there’s more than 10 if you count the multiple films of each series.. but you can thank me for that later! Ha-ha! I cannot wait to watch these films again through October with my friends and family and get into the Halloween Spirit! I hope you all have an Incredible Halloween and eat all the Lollies, Chocolates and Candy your stomachs can handle!
