Hey guys, its been a while.

I thought I’d let you guys in on something I’ve always held back on writing about, through fear. Fear of the judgement, fear of the negative comments, fear of looking weak. But depression, depression I feel, does not make you weak at all. It shows you feel. It shows you feel things so deeply and that you’re feelings and emotions can be so strong and constantly take over not only you’re inner thoughts, but can take over your actions and how you present yourself as a person. People often refer to depression as weakness and attention seeking, what do I say to those people? Educate yourself. Do your research and excuse my language, get your fucking head, out of your fucking ass. The only thing that made me feel strong enough to write this is because I’m finally in a position in my life where I feel content, happy and that I’m beating depression with my best foot forward. Im lucky enough to have a supporting Mother, A boyfriend who I truly believe loves me for exactly who I am and constantly proves that to me, and friends who would go to the end of the earth for me. It wasn’t always this good for me though, so let me let you all in on a secret, a story Ive kept to myself for too long. Here we go.

Growing up wasn’t all rainbows and butterflies for me, and it usually isn’t for most of us. Like so many of my generations, my parents were constantly fighting, they broke up when I was young and I felt myself torn between two homes and having to choose where I wanted to live, and trust me when I say – disappointing either of my parents was the last thing I ever wanted to do, so living out of a country road bag travelling back and forth from both houses was my only choice to try and keep them both happy. Highschool was not ‘the best time of my life’ as so many people say – just quietly, I fucking hated it. The only thing that kept me there was my Fathers words. In 2012, when I was in year 12,my final year of highschool, My Dad became very ill. Its not my place to say what was going on, that place is his – but lets just say I had to deal with the daily thoughts of ‘every day i spend in this shitty school is a day less with him’ and ‘who’s going to walk me down the isle if my Dad isn’t going to be around to do so?’ My Dad sat me down one day and said ‘If you are going to do anything for me, please finish school. I never did and its one of my biggest regrets. I know its hard, I know you want to be with me, but i need you to do this. Make me proud, promise me?’ I cried, and i cried, and i cried some more – but I agreed and responded with ‘I promise’.

I graduated school and was offered a spot into a few universities – I know my Dad wanted me to go, but sitting at a desk and doing further study at that time wasn’t an option for me. I wanted to earn money, If something happened to him I wanted money to be able to help out. I wanted to help my Mum out – and thats all that mattered. Fast forward 2 and a half years and I found myself 2 years into a shitty, unloving relationship and stuck in the same call centre job, hating everything about myself, what I had achieved at the age of 20 and most of all, I found myself diagnosed with body dysmorphia (please look it up or suss out other posts to understand this disease). I was obsessed with my body image, I would cry myself to sleep almost nightly and I was slowly finding myself falling into depression. I remember sitting my Mum down and saying to her ‘I dont know whats wrong with me. I’m always sad, and even when I should be happy and every things going okay, I’m still sad. Am I ungrateful? Whats wrong with me?’ her response ‘This was one of my worst fears, Ive been thinking this for a while, we may need to see someone – I think you may have depression’ And right at that moment, my heart broke. Me? Depression? Why am I not strong enough? Whats wrong with me? These were just some of the questions I was asking myself. But I agreed with my Mum, and finally went and saw someone. I was given handfuls of documents and pamphlets labelled ‘SUFFERING DEPRESSION’ and a prescription for anti-depressions was written up and that was it, I was sent on my way. Like.. here you go Tegan, heres a fucking pamphlet, read it, heres a few drugs, you’ll be okay soon! I remember ripping them up when I got home and telling my Mum, i refuse to take tablets to make me happy. I knew if I wanted to change, I needed to make changes.

I decided to sign up to a diploma course, sign myself up for a new gym and focus on eating right for myself. Trust me, I had my days where I still felt like depression was overcoming me, But I didn’t give up. In those situations you need to teach your brain to push on through, keep your thoughts positive and tell yourself it will get better. In 2016 I was 4 months off graduating my diploma, and then – My dad was rushed to hospital for an emergency lung transplant, around the same time I was cheated on after a 5 year relationship and treated like utter shit during the break up period. I was embarrassed, hurt and negative towards everything. On top of that, I was rushed to hospital with agonising stomach pains, and admitted straight away. Now let me tell you, I was a much stronger person at 21, then i was when I was 20, but fuck –  being cheated on, having your father in ICU and yourself stuck in a hospital not being able to do a damn thing about it, it plays on your mind. The only person by my side? My Mum. And that is something I will always be so grateful for. Mum, if you read this – I love you so much and thank you for every little thing you do for me.

I ended up having surgery on my stomach and spent two weeks in hospital. When I was sent home, I was at my lowest point. I couldn’t walk properly, I couldn’t eat properly, I wanted to take all the pain medication and just sleep for hours on end. I avoided any contact with anyone and remember thinking ‘ not only have I lost my motivation for health and fitness, but I’ve lost all motivation to finish my diploma. I remember telling my Mum that, and i remember how angry and disappointed she was. Ill never forget the face she gave me. Now my Mum is straight forward and will tell you exactly how she feels. She sat me down and said ‘No fucking way are you throwing away almost 2 years of hard work, the pain you just went through in hospital because you’re depressed over a shitty fucking guy who doesn’t deserve you or your love, and because you’ve had a minor set back. Get your ass back there and finish your fucking diploma’

I remember being completely speechless, but I messaged my teachers and told them Id be back next week. And I did exactly what my Mother told me to do- hold my fucking head high, finish what I started and enjoy what I worked hard for. I remember crying at my graduation and saying ‘Mum, I fucking did it’. I spent the rest of 2016 on cloud nine and landed my dream job. I worked hard, I focused on myself for a year, I focused on changing myself for the better. I didn’t jump into anything, I kept to myself , focused on my future and focused on how lucky I was to even have the life I live. Fast forward to now – Im lucky enough to be in a relationship with someone who loves me for exactly the person I am, where I’m constantly reminded of ‘how beautiful I am’ how much I’m loved. Im basically in love with my best friend, and its the best feeling in the world.

Ive never been closer than I am now with my Mother and have the best group of friends and work friends anyone could ever ask for. Why am I happy now? I honestly break it down to never giving up. Pushing through, If i didn’t make a change, nothing would have changed.

Just know that no matter how hard it may get sometimes, There is help out there, You are so worth it, and you so deserve to live out your life and be the best person you can possibly be. Keep pushing, keep fighting, You will be okay.

Until next time,

Hey guys! I thought seeing as my last post was all about my current skincare loves, I would now let you in on all my current makeup loves! It still amazes me every single day how much makeup is growing and all the new and exciting things that all brands are coming up with! Just when we think we have seen it all, a brand brings out something new that blows all us makeup lovers brains and keeps us guessing with what will actually be created next!

Take me back a year ago I was all about doing full glam every single day, but when I’m not working, I like to keep it more on the natural side, so I’ll be able to cater for the full glam gals and guys as well as the more natural glam gals/guys with this post! So before i keep rambling on, lets get started!

This little bottle of absolute heaven has been my number one go to for a natural, bronzed glow. The product is infused with Argan oil which is super hydrating for your skin so while it makes your makeup look fresh and flawless, its also helping give your skin that extra boost of hydration!

Pros: A bottle of this illuminizer lasts me MONTHS! The smallest amount (pea size) will cover your entire face and keep you glowing for days. I even sometimes multi use it by adding it over my foundation for a natural highlight without using powder highlighters. Its super light weight and can be worn by itself for a natural glow too! I love that it has the argan oil through it to keep your skin happy, hydrated and glowy!

Cons: I dont really have cons for this product, it is worth the price, however if you use to much your whole hands are glowy, so i suggest using a brush, thats more of a tip than a con though!

Price: $37.00  from http://www.mecca.com.au

We all know how much smashbox slay the game when it comes to their primers, one of their new ones is the two in one primerizer – a primer and moisturiser in one! The formula is super light weight, super hydrating and just feels like the perfect base before you slay your face with makeup.

Pros: The product delivers 24 hour hydration which is perfect for my fellow Australians with the warm weather already starting to hit us! (thank god!) As I said, the formula is super light so when applying to the skin its not thick or heavy. Whats incredible about this primer is that there is zero dry time, so if you/re in a rush as soon as you place it on the skin you can get straight into your foundation base, unlike so many other primers!

Cons: Once again, theres not much negativity I can say about this product, only thing as a skin specialist, I still use a moisturiser underneath this primer as I’m pretty strict with my skincare routine!

Price: $61.00 available at http://www.mecca.com.au

Ive truly gone through a whole bottle of this so quickly! Not because its small or wastes quickly, but because i’m absolutely OBSESSED with it!! This new little spray by too faced is a multi use product, You can use it as a spray primer, a setting spray for your makeup and a hydration booster spray for the warm weather us Australians have been experiencing lately, Its honestly one you need in your makeup bag!

Pros: Its three in one, so its perfect for travel, its perfect if you dont want to use multiple products for your makeup and its PERFECT for the warmer weather we are getting! It smells like a tropical holiday and is honestly my go-to for everything. Its not sticky like other setting sprays and works so well when going for that natural glow!

Cons: Honestly cannot fault this product, the bottle is large so you get so much out of it. Its a must have!

Price: $46.00 available at http://www.mecca.com.au

If you are a mecca beauty junkie you would know all about the Mecca lit from within highlighter.. well.. now we have the mecca cosmetica lit from within illuminating drops and let me just say.. I’m OBSESSED! These little drops of heaven are multi use and will keep you glowing for days! the drops are super light weight and work in multiple different ways to keep you dewy, glowing and hydrated!

Pros: Ive been into liquid illuminators for a while now and after trying this one, what i love about it is how light weight it is, but how much of a natural glow it gives the skin. Its soft, silky and blends so easily! You can use this product mixed with your foundation, mixed with your moisturiser or serum for a natural glow and an extra boost of hydration or even on top of your foundation for a liquid heaven highlight!

Cons: The only thing I would change about this product is the size, I literally want all of the lit from within illuminator and NEED it all, but thats just me being greedy 😉

Price: $45.00 available at http://www.mecca.com.au

Have you ever gotten super angry after doing your makeup perfectly, then you go and set with powder and you look dry, powdery and it ruins your whole look? Well not with this bad boy in your life! These powders will set your makeup but keep your skin looking glowy, even and beautiful. The dim light colour is my favourite, but there are multiple to chose from that mimic different lighting effects.

Pros: The powder is super velvety which means it sets to the skin beautifully and makes your skin still look glowy and natural. The packaging and product is beautiful, which hourglass are so amazing when it comes to any product they produce and how they display them! The compact lasts forever and only the smallest amount is needed to set your foundation!

Cons: I personally cannot fault this product, but if you are someone who prefers a matte finish, Id suggest not going for something like these powders, however I would always suggest going into a local mecca and trying it on the skin, I’m sure you will fall in love with it!

Price: $67.00 available at http://www.mecca.com.au

This heaven sent highlighter has always been one of my go-to favourites! This mineral based highlighter is super soft, so easy to blend and gives the perfect pop of highlight to the face. The colour works on me when I am pale and when I have a fake tan, which I love! I’ve even used this all over the skin when I run out of my hourglass ambient [powder and it set my foundation perfectly!

Pros: Theres 77 mineral complexes in this powder that glide on the skin so smoothly. I love the beautiful natural highlight this powder gives! Its soft, velvety and the perfect highlight for so many skin tones!

Cons: I find that i go through these pretty quickly, but thats only probably because I use it all the time!

Price: $48.00 available at http://www.maccosmetics.com.au

Its a medium to full coverage foundation, velvety and blends perfectly! Theres 8 beautiful shades to chose from and number 4 looks perfect with a fake tan! Ive gone through bottles of this foundation already thats how much i LOVE it!!

Pros: This product is SO affordable, yet SO good!! I honestly was blown away when i tried it. It blends so perfectly, its so easy to build up to full coverage and stays on all day! If you dont want to spend heaps of money on a foundation this one is perfect! You get the great quality for such a great price.

Cons: I cant fault this one either, only thing i wish is there were more shades so I can fill my whole kit up with them!

Anyone who knows my personally knows how obsessed I am with my liquid liners, and Ive found my NUMBER ONE in this perversion pen by URBAN DECAY.  The pen not only makes it easier to get that wing razor sharp and perfect, but you can achieve such a fine line with them which makes it a perfect pen for beginners as well!

Pros: i suffer from bad watery eyes (i cry when i laugh its actually super weird) so the fact that this pen is waterproof, and actually lives up to that makes me so happy! Trust me when I say i have tried so many liquid liners, and this one is by far my number one – so all my fellow liquid liner lovers – I suggest you give this a go, I’m almost certain you will love it too!

Cons: The only thing i can say, like many liners- I feel like it runs out pretty quickly, but thats probably because I use it every day – however you push the pen and it will drain out all the liquid, which means you get the most out of the product. Another thing I wish it had was more colour choice, currently only black available so it would be great to see some different colours!

I dont think I go anywhere without this bad boy in my bag! This has got to be my all time favourite clear brown gel, it literally keeps my brows in shape for a buy day – whether thats with work, gym, the warm weather- I touch my brows all the time and this gel just ensures that they stay in place like i had only just done them!

Pros: The wand is super easy to use with 4 different lengths to decide how you want the brows to look (brushed up, more defined etc) the gel keeps your brows in place ALL day long and the product lasts forever! I use it every day and I’ve had mine for 3 months and there is still SO much product left.

Cons: Theres only one thing I can fault, is the smell of the gel – it might be because I’m sensitive to scents, but it actually isn’t the nicest smell in the world!

Price: $42.00 available at myer.com.au

If you have not heard of this product, then I’m sure you have been living under a rock – this is one of the most popular concealers on the market, and I 100% know why! Ive been using this concealer for years and i can honestly say I am obsessed!

Pros: There are so many pros for this product, its creamy, full coverage, really easy to blend and works so well as a skin tone concealer of if you’re like me, going 1-2 shades lighter to highlight certain points under the face. This concealer has hydrating properties so it will not dry out when you are using it either!

Cons: Theres only two things I can fault on this product, it is small, so it doesn’t last long – and SOMETIMES it sits in my creases – but that also depends on my skin!

Price: $44.00 available at http://www.mecca.com.au

So before telling you why I love this product, you may see the photo above looks way too dark for my skin tone to be a highlighter – thats because bare minerals have created highlighters for different skin tones – and i chose the deep-dark to use as a bronzer. As soon as I saw the orange tone marble mixed with a beautiful dark tan colour, I knew it would look perfect to define the cheek bones! the product has a beautiful amount of shimmer, so if you are like me and love the glow in both your highlighters and your bronzers, that is easy to blend, this is a MUST try product for you!

Pros: This is a mineral based product, so not only do you know its good to be placed on your skin, but the buttery texture blends so perfectly and makes it easy to have a beautiful textured tone and not a harsh line. This line by bare minerals mimic the sunlight, so when your skin is in the sun, you look natural, glowy and chiseled to perfection 😉

Cons: Another one i cant fault, its SUPER pigmented, so make sure when you use it, to tap your excess off and slowly build your colour.

Price: $40.00 available at http://www.mecca.com.au

So guys, I hope you liked this one! It was a list of just a few of my go-to favourites, but Im currently writing a larger list containing eyeshadow palettes and my favourite lashes too, that will be coming next week so make sure you keep an eye out for that one! Thank you so much for reading and if you would like me to review or try any products for you guys, please dont hesitate to message me and let me know! ❤

Until next time,

Body Dysmorphic Disorder, also known to some as ‘Body Dysmorphia’.

There are many people who will read the headline of this post and think nothing of it, many people who will be reading this just to learn about a different type of disorder, or some of you may just be intrigued to know what exactly it is and what it means, but there will be some readers who have this disorder, and these few will know how this disorder,  can seriously control many aspects of your life.

Medically, Body dysmorphia Disorder (BDD) is described as a ‘distinct mental disorder in which a person has symptoms of a medical illness, but the symptoms cannot be fully explained by an actual physical disorder. People with BDD are preoccupied with an imagined physical defect or a minor defect that others often cannot see’ (webmd quote/explanation of the disorder). To simplify this, BDD can be described as an individual who has a very negative view on their body, looks and self image, but to me and so many other BDD it is so, so much more.

For some, Body dysmorphia can start from bullying, for others, from their own insecurities, and some can even develop the disorder from growing up in an abusive family environment, and sadly these only name a couple of the reasons each individual can develop BDD. Every individual with this Disorder has their own story, their own struggles and their own thoughts on suffering with Body dysmorphia,

This is my story.

I didn’t always have BDD. Growing up, I was actually a pretty confident kid. I started Swimming at the age of 4, Gymnastics at the age of 5 and even gave Taekwondo a go at the age of 9. Swimming, however was always my favourite- and I stuck with it all the way into year 9 of highschool. Throughout Primary school I began to get bigger, yes. Was it something i noticed? Of course it was, but I was a kid, and I certainly didn’t let it bother me. The early years of Primary school, Kids weren’t cruel, everyone respected everyone and always played nice, however leading up to year 5 and 6- thats when the bullying began. Now looking back on it I laugh, because it was just young boys, being boys, trying to get a quick laugh from their mates, but back then being an 11-12 year old girl, it was something that definitely affected me, thats for sure.

Moving into Highschool and becoming a teenager, now thats where I would have to pin point the starting point of developing BDD. Highschool was tough. It can be for a lot of students, and not just females but males too. I feel like now looking back on it, everyone just wanted to get a laugh out of their friends, they wanted their friends to think they were cool or tough- but half the time It all was an act. I had a group of friends, A descent size too, I mean we were teenage girls and often our friendship groups changed. The worst thing about going to an all girls school? The amount of backstabbing. Every day it was something new. If you did something embarrassing, of course everyone knew about it but you would only have to wait a day and everyone would be talking about some new piece of gossip on someone else. Looking back on it, it was actually kind of sad. Looking back on it, I think a lot more discipline should have been taken on students who thought it was okay to put down others because they weren’t their definition of beautiful or perfect. If anything, now, It only reflects badly on the ones who did the bullying and the ‘body shaming’.

I was actually quite a big girl during the start of Highschool and leading into my last 3 years of Highschool. I knew it, I hated it, and I would cry over it every single night. I would come home from school and cry to my Mum and Dad about how I looked. Id constantly ask ‘Why?’. ‘Why me?’. I would often have a pity party for myself, and looking back at that now I shake my head. The turning point was going from an all girls School in year 9, to transitioning to the Co-Ed Boys and Girls Campus to complete year 10, 11 and 12. Luckily, for me I never got a crush on any boy from my Highschool, not one. I had boyfriends, yes – but none of them attended the same school as I did, and personally I was too ashamed in my body, my self image and the way I looked to fully be happy in any relationship I was in, so they all faded pretty quickly and were nothing too serious.  I was scribble my face out in photos, hide my face in photos, crop my photos – Anything that would stop me from having to look at myself any more than I had to.

Screen Shot 2016-01-18 at 10.41.03 PM

(As you can see from the above photos I found on my still existing myspace page that I uploaded from 2008-2010, I hid behind black and white photos, my side fringe and often covered my face in every single photo that was taken of me. Yes, I wasn’t a skinny girl but hating myself this much, wasn’t healthy)

In year 10, My Best friend dropped out of High-school, My Dad became extremely ill and my motivation to do anything was lost. My grades dropped, my happiness dropped and I honestly felt as if nothing was going right. I was depressed, I felt alone and I felt like i had nothing. Add a load of homework, bullying and a bunch of gossiping teenagers to that and It was a great mix of disaster for any teenage girl. Now, I’m not trying to throw a pity party for myself here again, As everything that happened through high-school has made me who I am today, but going through it, and knowing still what so many young woman and men go through throughout their High school experience breaks my heart. I hid behind baggy clothes and a hideous side fringe.

Towards the end of year 10, I wanted to make a change. I decided to start ‘eating healthier; and joined a local gym. I would starve myself by eating 400 calories a day then going and doing endless hours of cardio to burn off the calories I ate, then destroy all that work by binge eating on a weekend because I was always SO hungry. I knew it was the wrong way to go about it, I shouldn’t have been surprised when I wasn’t losing weight, But I was and I would cry about it every single day. I knew I was doing it the unhealthy way, and I think doing this to my body back then has ruined my metabolism now. I kept this up all through year 10 and all through year 11. Starving myself, then binge eating, then starving myself, then binge eating. It was a rotation that went around and around and around again. I lost a few kilograms, however every time I looked in the mirror i hated what was staring back at me. i hated my hair, my face, my teeth, but most of all- my body.

The extent and depth of my emotions and feelings were, and still are incredibly deep, which I do speak about in the novel I am currently writing, and will release to you all once completed,  however I still find it hard to explain the pain, hurt and hate I had for myself. When year 12 finally came around I was more body conscious then ever. I wouldn’t wear anything other then black leggings and clothes that would hide my weight. Year 12 was hard, especially the first half. I struggled to keep up with study, working out and eating healthy, and then I met my Boyfriend, Ryan. I was honestly amazed he even showed interest in me to be honest, Here was this fit, good looking football player.. then there was me, this chubby, shy, no confidence 17 year old who hated the way she looked – but he stuck by me, through it all, and honestly I cannot thank this incredible man for everything he has done for me over the last 4 years, that’s for sure.

Once year 12 was done, My happiness definitely boosted. Although I still hated the way I looked and how I presented myself. I was away from the negative High school environment. I got my license, a full time job and was enrolled in my Beauty Course however my Dysmorphia got worse. I started eating a lot healthier, however in 2013/14, I was over exercising – sometimes doing up to 4 workouts a day, spending thousands on products, plans, boot camps and anything I thought would help me lose weight and love my body, but nothing would work. I was 2 dress sizes smaller from high school, however to me – I still looked horrible, I still felt horrible, and I still had no confidence. I had Ryan telling me I looked great,  old High school peers messaging me asking for advise on how to lose weight and telling me how great I looked, however none of it sunk in. To me, It wasn’t good enough – and If I’m honest it still isn’t good enough.

Screen Shot 2016-01-18 at 10.45.29 PM.png

(Here is a photo I uploaded to my Facebook in late 2014- after starting a new fitness regime. I was getting comments telling me how great I looked, but to me, there was hardly any change. I hated my body so much in the first photos, And hated my body just as much in the second set)

Focusing in on the last year- I began my Beauty course and was suddenly surrounded by young, skinny, beautiful, fit girls my age and older who ate like shit, but still had incredible figures, who were confident and so happy with themselves.. then there was me. Who wasn’t shy, I had a great relationship with everyone in my class- however would never even think about showing my body to anyone in the class and would even struggle to contribute to some classes if it meant I had to take my top off or do anything like that. Even sitting here, writing about it now gives me major anxiety and worry. Towards the middle of 2015 I got doctors to run tests, body comparisons, anything I could to see If I had anything wrong with me – and that’s when I was diagnosed with BDD. I had no idea what it was, had no Idea why he was diagnosing me with it, and had no idea why he was asking me to see a therapist about ‘hating myself’. Luckily enough I accepted my disorder and didn’t have to go on to seeing a therapist for the issue but accepting the fact that I had BDD wasn’t easy for me. I always put up a front of a strong, independent girl and it was hard for me suck up my pride and just accept the fact that i had a mental disorder, but accepting it was the first step to what I know will be a long recovery. I went to 3 other weight loss specialists towards the end of 2015 trying to see if they could help me – and they were all disappointing, one place (Melbourne Weightloss Clinic) had the main specialist tell me to “Just drink weight loss shakes for 3 year and you will definitely see a change” but that I was “Overreacting because the clients she usually sees are 5 times as big as me”. And i think that is a major issue. Its not about being a certain size. Having BDD is an issue for girls, woman, men and boys of all ages, sizes and shapes. I personally know a beautiful, fit, thin young woman who has BDD but sees herself as chubby and unattractive. It comes down to your own perception and your own image of yourself.

Screen Shot 2016-01-18 at 10.44.28 PM.png

(Here is another image I uploaded to Facebook much more recently, In October of 2015 to be exact. I look at myself there in 2010, and had no confidence, unhappy and overweight. I look at the photo on the right that was taken recently and although I do look like a different person, the feeling inside it still much the same. I’m wearing black because wearing anything else for my boyfriends football presentation would have made me look ‘obese’ as I would say. It took me 4 weeks to decide on an outfit for the night and only chose this because to me it was the only thing that looked half decent and the only outfit that to me, didn’t make me look how I felt.)

Now I am by no means skinny or fit. I am being very honest and raw when I say this, but I still cry myself to sleep every night thinking about my body, how I look and how I present myself in clothes. I dread Summer for having to wear more revealing clothes, I dread bikinis and I dread anything that means my skin will be showing, but that’s me being real with all of you. I may not be skinny, fit or confident, but one thing I am – Is healthy. I began 2016 with a goal. A goal to be healthy, a goal to be strong and a goal to push myself and be the best version of myself, emotionally, physically and mentally. I look at my body still with disgust on a daily basis, but I nourish it correctly, I train it correctly and I am on the road to trying my hardest to change my perception of myself, my opinion of myself and I’m trying to learn to love the skin I am in, while I try to better it.

Some days are worse then others, but all have its challenges and the best piece of advise I can give is to surround yourself with people who make you smile, who are positive influences on you, who have goals, ambitions and are striving for a happy, successful future. Get rid of any negativity, any negative people or anything that can hold you back from bettering yourself.

How do I cope with it? Well.. that’s a hard question.. really. Some days I do, some days I don’t. Some days I can stand myself in clothes, and others I will cry my eyes out at every outfit I try on until I have no strength to even attempt to go out in public. There’s good days, and there is bad days but the road to recovery is there and you don’t need to battle your disorder alone. So many young woman and men keep so quiet about it to the point they feel like they have no one – I’ve done that, and its far from the truth. There are so many organisations and other beautiful woman in the communities surrounding you and close to you who are also suffering. The best thing I do when I’m feeling really negative about myself is I ensure to surround myself with the people I love and the ones who lift me up. My family, My parents, My incredible boyfriend, My close friends and my Pups. I surround myself with the people who love me and support me, I know I don’t have to go through it alone. Another way I cope is sticking to a healthy, nutritious diet and balanced exercise. I workout 6 days a week with a program that was written up for me and follow a MACRO diet, which is the right amount of carbs/proteins/fats for my body and have one cheat meal a week to keep my cravings satisfied. Its about balance and healthy living. If I know I’m treating my body right, then that’s one step in a positive direction. Have motivation. 4 years ago I would have told you my motivation and inspiration would have been a woman was sickly skinny, not that this isn’t beautiful, as all woman of all shapes and sizes is beautiful but for a woman like me who grew up swimming, who is tall and bigger built naturally it wasn’t practical nor healthy. My inspiration now is woman like Ronda Rousey (who as a fact also suffered weight issues and overcome this) and woman within female MMA/UFC as well as various strong, fit, healthy, fitness professionals.

Happy Tuesday all! How crazy is it that we are already 12 days into January? I cannot believe how fast the time is going and that its already 2016! Im finally back after a long break over Christmas/New Years and I thank you all for being so patient! So, My main Goal/Focus for 2016 is weightloss/health and fitness. The 3 components have always been extremely important to me, however this year I have noticed I am a lot more focused, driven and passionate about it! Im definitely eating cleaner, working out harder and my fitness planning/mindset is a lot clearer! I thought, to kick off the New Year on a healthy note, why not share some of my favourite tips for creating a perfect Salad! Anyone who knows me personally knows that I am not actually.. a massive fan of a plain salad.. No way! I cant do a simple no dressing, no protein salad- I find it SO boring and SO un filling, to me its seriously something i CANNOT eat, However if i fill my salads with incredible tasting veggies, healthy dressings, healthy cheeses and a protein source, I find them SO yummy! Lets do this!

Screen Shot 2016-01-12 at 9.02.20 PM

GO GREEN! Okay.. i know this doesn’t sound that yum.. But your salad needs to be nutritious and good for you- Choosing greens (the tasty ones) the right way can make sure your getting a great serve of nutrients that also easy to eat! My go to greens for a Salad are:

Iceberg Lettuce: I love this form of lettuce, its easy to eat, basically tastes like water, very low in calories and so super cheap too! You can pick up a whole lettuce for around $2.00 and that lasts me the whole week!

Spinach: As iceberg lettuce is basically water, I know the nutrition value isn’t too high! I love to add some spinach leaves to my iceberg lettuce to up the nutrition value, the two actually taste very nice together!

Mixed lettuce: this is another type of lettuce I enjoy. Its a few different lettuces put together and are a variety of colours- this type of lettuce tastes amazing with a vinaigrette and sea salt!

These are my favourites, personally- But other choices you can chose that are incredible for you and so super nutritious are wild rocket and kale- these two I personally don’t like the taste too but they are both so incredibly great for you! Try mixing 2 or more of the greens into your salad!

Greens are so full of folate and minerals such as calcium and magnesium, so don’t forget them!

Screen Shot 2016-01-12 at 9.07.56 PM

The rainbow medley of fruits and veggies are just important as the greens! This is one of the most fun parts of creating a salad, because you get to add some of the vegetables and fruit which have the most incredible flavour! some of my favourite go to vegetables are:

Beetroot, Red Onion, Carrot, Zucchini, Cabbage, Cherry Tomatoes, Corn kernels off the cob, Cucumber, chickpeas, green beans – My favourite way to present these veggies are to either grate them, finely chop them or shred them! Not only does it make them easier to eat but i personally think it looks better (ha-ha!)

Another thing I love to do is bake off some sweet potato or pumpkin in the oven and add it to the top of my salads! these are my favourite veggies by far!

Some of my favourite go-to fruits to add into salads are:

Apples, Mango, Strawberries, Avocado – All though i have to ensure the type of salad I’m having will mix well with fruit. A dinner salad with meat, a find mango goes lovely with and a lunch salad (simple and on the side, strawberries are lovely with) I find because I love avocado so much, it goes with everything, and apples, well the green ones are incredible in a tossed side salad!

My best advise here is to play around with your favourite fresh fruits and vegetables, try different things and experience with flavours! Just make sure they all mix well together!

Screen Shot 2016-01-12 at 9.26.52 PM

Another ingredient that adds loads of flavour to a salad is a beautiful herb! Some of my favourites are fresh basil, chives and parsley. I also have a whole 12 herb and spices rack so I often play around with different herbs from there such as rosemary and thyme. I personally don’t like these herbs in a salad, but some other popular herbs are fresh mint and coriander- These I strongly dislike but a lot of my family and friends adore it, so they are always options to try! If you have a range of fresh herbs that you grow or a family member grows, take advantage!

Screen Shot 2016-01-12 at 9.31.49 PM

To me, this is a component that can really make a salad super tasty.. however it also can be a component that can change your salad from being a beautiful, healthy, nutritious salad to one thats full of fat and sugar. Make sure you stay away from the creamy dressings and mayo type dressins such as ceaser and stick to creating your own healthy blends. Some of my favourite are:

  • Balsamic Viniger- this is my go to salad, I always add it to majority of my salads. Its tangy, yet super tasty and goes so well with so many types of veggies!
  • Mixture of olive oil (3tblsp) and apple cider vinegar (1teaspoon) and a pinch of salt and pepper- this is another beautiful dressing. Keep it tasty, simple and healthy!
  • Fresh lime or fresh lemon – Squeezed- Healthy, zesty and refreshing!

Screen Shot 2016-01-12 at 9.38.38 PM.png

Now anyone who knows me knows i am a MASSIVE fan of cheese! I love it 0 but too much diary and having too much cheese can be unhealthy- so when creating a yummy salad I like to keep that in mind and to do so I always ensure I choose the following cheese and only a small handful!

  • FETTA: Im obsessed with fetta, and it goes SO well with balsamic vinaigrette and tomato.
  • GOATS CHEESE: This is a very different cheese which is great in all types of salads- its not that expensive either!
  • FRESH PARMESAN: Who doesn’t love parmesan! a shaving with salt, pepper and balsamic vinaigrette is to die for!

Screen Shot 2016-01-12 at 9.42.47 PM.png

If I’m super hungry or I’m making a salad for my family and friends- I always love to add some extra crunch. I do that by roasting a handful or two of healthy nuts in a pan and placing it through the salad! My favourite nuts are:

-Sunflower Seeds

-Pine Nuts

-Slithered Almonds

They add a beautiful crunch and flavour to the right Salad!

Screen Shot 2016-01-12 at 9.45.21 PM.png

This is my favourite component to a salad, It can turn a salad from a simple side dish, to a main meal! My tips for this is to ensure your proteins are rich and healthy, not something soaked in marinades or something fatty- opt for a lean, healthy protein form! Some of my favourites include:

1- Roast, Poached or Pan fried Chicken (100grams) I love chicken! Its so yum and super good for us! If your adding chicken opt for 100grams of chicken breast- for flavour you can add herbs or a healthy BBQ seasoning, Cajun seasoning and so on.

2- Roasted or Pan fried Turkey (100grams)  Another protein which is super good for us and very similar to chicken, in my opinion! You can add a healthy seasoning to this also!

3- Seafoods such as prawns, flake, fish, calamari, Salmon, Tuna – Adding a high protein form of seafood is another great option! We should always remember to be as healthy as possible and changing up your types of protein are also SUPER important! There is such a great tasting range of seafoods and they are all SUPER good for you, so don’t forget to change it up and watch the portions.

4-Mushrooms- A VERY high protein packed veggie that is super tasty in a warm salad and a great protein for vegetarians/vegans.

5- Eggs: I opt for only one or a few egg whites and the yolks are high in calories and fat. Egg whites are super high in protein and taste great in a hearty salad!

Now that you’ve spent a good amount of time creating the perfect salad, enjoy it and enjoy not having any guilt like you would after eating a Big Mac meal (you might not even feel guilt for that.. but lets just say you should haha!)

I hope you guys have got some healthy tips and ideas from my favourite salad options! Dont forget to subscribe for other handy/healthy tips and if you have any suggestions/questions please do not be afraid to ask!

Have a great week all  X

MY TOP 10 TIPS TO HELP YOU LOSE WEIGHT!

Happy Monday to all you beautiful bloggers and readers! I hope you all had an incredible weekend and are ready for the week ahead. One thing I know, is that over the weekend I certainly eat a lot of foods I am not proud of, or foods that I wish i didnt eat, but its the weekend, and I do like to enjoy myself over the weekend, but never like the fact of putting on weight! I have a massive weight issue that I struggle with- and keeping healthy is very important to me. If you know me personally, then you would know that in the past I did lost 15kg. Im currently on the journey to shed more weight and become happier with my body, but of course, that takes time. I remember when I originally started losing weight how hard I thought it was. I didn’t know what rules to follow, what to eat, when to eat, what to do and when to do it! Fitness and weight loss is so hard to understand as there are so many different specialists saying so many different things- Who knows what to believe! I know its a hard path, trust me I know- I’m still trying to achieve my goals and its been over 5 years! Its easy for some, and very hard for others, and for me, its definitely very difficult! I have written up 10 tips that I used to help me, personally shed my first 15 kilos. I have learnt alot from personal trainers, my industry, my instructers and nutrition and weightloss specialists throughout my journey and these are some tips from all of them that I have gained, and ones that deffinetley work for me! Please remember that we are all individuals and what might work for some, will not work for others. Please also remember it is so important to love yourself first. This is something I struggle with everyday! You need to love your body and look after it- Remember that before you embark on any weightlos journey! Be safe, Be healthy and Be happy!

MY 10 TOP, YET SIMPLE WEIGHT LOSS TIPS:

1

  • ADDING LEMON TO YOUR WATER: I absolutely love doing this! Not only does it make the water taste super refreshing but it definitely helps me reduce my bloating and is such a great, natural detox. Al you need to do is squeeze a small triangle into your water and a few slices and you are good to go! Its also great to chuck into your water bottle if you are on the go!

2

  • Hidden sugars in foods are the worst! Processed foods are full of sugars that are so bad for our bodies, this is why natural whole foods are foods we should be eating- not processed foods like cakes, pies, frozen foods, fast foods- the list goes on and on! Its important to stay as healthy and natural as possible. Just think about what you are eating and if it will benefit your body.

3

  • This is a big one for me- Its definitely what helped me shed at least 6kg! A lot of people do not believe in it though, they believe it is total BS, But I personally swear by it, and think it definitely helped me a lot! All i did was either go for walks, bike rides, or go on the cross trainer, not for long, only 30-45 minutes 3-4 times a week.

4

  • This is the tip I struggle with the most. I am definitely a massive stress-er! I stress about everything! Especially my weight.. So I know how hard it can be to not stress. The best tip I have for this is to do things that keep your mind off weight loss and surround yourself with positive, loving people!

5

  • Water is so so so good for us! I cannot begin to explain how important it is to keep yourself hydrated! water definitely is such a contributor to weight loss. Carry around a water bottle wherever you go and keep as hydrated as possible!

6

  • Soft drink has NO nutritional benefits! There is literally nothing that is good about it! Try and avoid soft drink as much as possible. Yes, I get it, its hard and we all have to live a little, but remember that the less soft drink you have the more the calories can be used on food! .. Healthy food though ha-ha!!

7

  • I always here that woman are ‘scared’ to lift weights- but its honestly such an important factor in losing weight and toning up. Weights burn calories, tone and build muscles, even when you finish exercising! They are super important and aren’t as boring as doing Cardio all the time!

8

  • This is another really important tip! So many people i know end up starving themselves trying to lose weight quick, and it is SO unhealthy and will only stuff you up in the long run. Your body is like a car, food is our Fuel!

9

  • It is crucial to always mix up your workouts! Dont let your body get use to it. If it doesn’t challenge you, it really will not change you! Remember that!

10

  • Always keep yourself moving. I work in an office, and as a Beauty Therapist a swell as sit in a classroom when I’m studying! I am always sitting! You need to make the effort to stand up, stretch and go for a small walk around the office or just around a few desks. It will burn calories and it keeps your body warm and active.

There you have it guys! 10 of my most simple, useful weight loss tips! I really hope some of them, or all of them help you guys to achieve your goals as I continue on my journey as well! I am always here if you guys have any questions or need support. Do not Hesitate to message me! Happy Monday!

Until Next Time,

OPEN MY BELLA BOX WITH ME – JULY EDITION.

hey beauty lovers! My July Bella Box recently arrived and I tested the products just so I could review
them for you straight away! Haha! I was actually so much more excited about this box then I was with he last because this box came with the proper cute little blue and white poker dot bb gift box and my last edition didn’t haha! I know I know, such a small thing to get excited about but it did! This box was very different to my last, this box was basically filled with products that were mostly dedicated to skin care and skin products, there was only one product in the box that was makeup related. I had a lot of fun testing all these products and hope that my review on all of them help you guys decide whether or not the individual products shown are right for you, and hopefully save you guys some money in the long run! Okay, Let’s get started.
Screen Shot 2015-07-28 at 5.44.58 PM

Screen Shot 2015-07-28 at 5.48.00 PM

PRODUCT ONE; MODEL CO SHADOW STICK.
Screen Shot 2015-07-28 at 5.49.58 PM
4 piece gift set RRP: $39.00
available at: http://www.modelcocosmetics.com

okay so the colour I was provided with in my Bella box was a shade called ‘purple haze 04’ . This colour is super pretty and goes on more like a darkish glittered brown mixed with purple rather then a straight up purple pigment. The colour goes on so easily and blends well with other eyeshadows If blended correctly. What I found with this eyeshadow was that using brushes over it becomes a challenge. Because this shadow is more cream based, it is best applied from the stick to the eye rather then using brushes. I tried applying this product both ways and it works a lot better from stick to eye rather then using a burst. The product sticks to the brush and the finished look does not look as professional or clean. It’s a newly launched eyeshadow stick, however there are many other brands out there that supply these types of eyeshadows also. The compact design of the stick makes it very easy to store In a makeup bag or even in your hand bag to use on the go, as the stick Simone colour you don’t have to try and carry a whole eyeshadow palette out just to touch up your eye shadow.

PROS:
– Easy to apply
– Eyeshadow is VERY long lasting and sticks to the eyelid very well, I noticed after wearing the shadow for 12 hours it was still on my lids with a high amount of shimmer and colour still noticeable
– Compact and easy to travel with.
– Good amount of shimmer within the product
– Range of colours are great.

CONS:
– Much cheaper highly appreciated brands out here who stock the same type of eyeshadow
– Although this contradicts with the ‘long lasting’ pro, it’s an extremely hard shadow to get off. I tried using my hands and it was impossible, makeup wipes were used and I still needed to scrub a little, can be painful for the eye
– Price for the 4 pack- you can get this cheaper for individual colours and pick the colours you want and make your own 4 pack.
-Stick is easy to break, you need to be very careful when using it.

OVERALL:
If you are a makeup lover, I would try this product just to have your own opinion on it, especially if you work long days like myself I can guarantee that the colour will stick to your eyelids and last throughout the day, however if you do more research within the eyeshadows on the market you will be able to find similar products from different brands for a cheaper price and of better quality. I suggest if you are a drug store product lover even look into portal, maybeline and Rimmel, they offer a great range with many more colour options to choose from. If you are someone who is really into looking after your skin also like myself I don’t suggest always using this product as it can be hard to remove and no one likes to scrub at their eyes or bring out erythema by just trying to remove makeup. Product also contains alcohol which is stripping on the skin which isn’t a positive either. Definitely a product I could live without however handy for hose on he go, long day working makeup lovers who need a product that will stay in place all day.

PRODUCT TWO; PROACTIV+ COMPLEXION PERFECTION HYDRATOR.
Screen Shot 2015-07-28 at 5.51.14 PM
89ml RRP: $60.00
Available at: proactiv.com.au

This is a sample product of a lightweight moisturiser that is suitable for all skin types. It’s purpose is to hydrate the skin and also help reduce the appearance of post acne dark marks, excess oil, shine and redness. I have never been a real big fan of proactive, and the ingredients they use to strip the skin and reduce the acne. The ingredients aren’t ones i agree with but then again, I personally have never suffered with acne in my life and haven’t used the proactiv line personally. My cousin however did and she swears by proactiv and how it helped clear up her skin. This product is something I did a test on as you will be able to see from the below photos/results. The smell of this product was lovely, and what I was very surprised about is it comes with a little spoon to scoop up the product and apply it to your face. Another thing that surprised me about this product was the amount. It states you need a fair mount for your face however I beg to differ, to cover my entire face all I needed was one small scoop! Pit covered my entire face and I still had product left over. The product was cold and smooth easy to apply and smells nice as well. Nothing worse then applying a product that doesn’t smell nice to your face and you have to smell it every time you breath! I’m not a proactiv fan as stated but I did like the feel of this product. I left it on my face for 8 hours and checked to see if my redness had gone down and it had! My face was also a lot softer then before placing the product on my skin.

Screen Shot 2015-07-28 at 6.00.57 PM
Screen Shot 2015-07-28 at 6.01.56 PM

PROS:
-Only a small amount is needed for your entire face
-Product does exactly what it states it does
-Soft on skin
-Easy to apply
-Comes with spoon to apply the product.
-Smells lovely
-Reduced my redness/erythema.

CONS:
-Some of the ingredients are ones I try and avoid in skin products.
– Proactiv advertise to use this product with z4 other products showing they just want you to buy all their products. I know this is the aim and what they need to do for their business but when they are pushing you to buy other products to get the full effect, that annoys me
– Expensive for a moisturising cream.

OVERALL:
If you do suffer from acne and redness of your face, I suggest trying this product. I don’t condone the ingredients in their acne products but I know a lot of people who do and who swear by proactiv and what their products do. The product did reduce my redness and make my skin feel soft and smooth which is what the product states to do. I am going to continue using the tester bottle but personally wouldn’t pay $60.00 for the retail product, I prefer using sothys, payout or skeyndor products with ingredients I agree with and are specifically made for my skin type.

PRODUCT 3; NEUTROGENA DEEP CLEAN GENTLE SCRUB
Screen Shot 2015-07-28 at 5.52.52 PM
125ml RRP $12.99
Available at: Priceline and My Chemist Warehouse.

I personally like to steer clear of drug store skin care products if I don’t agree with their ingredients however I still wanted to give this product a try. I’m a lot more strict when it comes to what I use on a daily basis when it comes to my skin as I always want to ensure I use the best products that will benefit my skin in every way possible. This deep clean scrub is described as a gentle daily scrub that is developed with beta hydroxy and gentle micro beads to clean deep down into the skins pores leaving a smoother healthier looking complexion. There a multiple ingredients in this scrub that I don’t like to use on my skin at all however I still tested it to be able to review the product correctly. When it comes to a exfoliant/scrub for my face I like to use natural exfoliates. There is an amazing walnut scrub facial exfoliant made by sothys that is so natural and beneficial on the skin, I’ll defineltey make sure I do a review on it for you guys- that’s defineltey my first choice in facial exfoliant so but back to this product- the first thing I did was place a small pea size amount on my hand to feel the texture and smell the product and I was surprised. The product smelt amazing, like summer flowers. It’s a pale pink colour and the texture of the product was thick and very grainy, which is obviously expected for a exfoliating scrub. What I liked about the granular a in this exfoliant was how small they were, they were not irritating yet they felt like they were massaging my skin, like small pieces of salt instead of an irritating ball that feels uncomfortable on the skin. Before placing the product on my face I dampened my face with warm water then spread the product evenly through my fingers and placed it onto my face evenly, avoiding my eye are. I used my hands to make circular motions around my face to ensure the granules were moving and exfoliating the skin. I left the product on my face for 3-5 minutes just to check if the product would make my face sting or not, I’ve noticed with many drug store exfoliants or toners they can make my face sting like crazy and I hate that it just shows how bad some of the ingredients are, however this product didn’t make my face sting at all. Washing it off was easy aswell just warm water splashed into my face a few times. I then used a towel and dabbed my face dry. After my face was dry I run the back of my hand down it and I was amazed at how soft my face actually was I couldn’t believe it. My face smelt Amazing and felt amazing. I am actually very surprised by this product.

PROS:
-Price. Retail product size is under $13.00. As the product didn’t give my skin a bad reaction I find that, that is a good affordable price
– Smell. The product smells so summery and so pretty, the smell remains after you clean the product off your skin as well.
-Texture. the texture was great. As stated above the granules are not uncomfortable and it is very easy to apply to the skin
-Softer skin. After applying the product my skin was super smooth and dead skin was removed.

CONS:
– I don’t particularly love all he ingredients in this product. I deffinetley try my hardest to use products with natural ingredients that are most beneficial for my skin.

OVERALL:
If you are someone who doesn’t focus on all ingredients in a product and are just trying to mainly focus on a product that does the job for you I would deffinetley say give this a try. It’s affordable, smells amazing, easy to use and I personally had no negative reactions. I really do love the granules within this product and how soft and smooth my skin felt after using it. Not much product is needed either when using so you will not be going through bottles and bottles and wasting money.

PRODUCT FOUR; PALMOLIVE BODY POLISH EXFOLIATING BODY WASH.
Screen Shot 2015-07-28 at 5.54.18 PM
400ml RRP:$6.79
Available at: Woolworths, Coles and IGA.

Okay so I loves this product as soon as I opened the bottle. I am an extreme strawberry lover. I love the fruit and I love products that smell like strawberries so as soon as I saw this product in my Bella box I had a shower straight away so I could try it. I a, a lot my lenient when it comes to drug store/cheaper exfoliant a when it comes to my body. I am a lot my strict in what products I use on my face but for my body I like to try different products and see what works best for me. This body wash/exfoliant not only smells incredible but does exactly what it says on the bottle. The description of this product is ‘ a delicious exfoliating body wash, available in tantalizing fruit sents of Acai berry, passion fruit and strawberry. Promises to renew and revitalise the skin. Throw into your travel bag for fresh and invigorated skin wherever your adventures take you’ what I loved is that not only did the product remove dirt from my body after a long day outside in the dirt and sweating it out at gym, but it also removed all the deed skin from my legs. Before using this product I checked my legs and because of being sick my skin looked horrible. You could see the dehydration and dead skin build up and I hate that. My legs are chalky white and so easy to see imperfections. When I used this product with both a Loofa and exfoliation mitt I was so happy with results. I jumped out of the shower, dried and checked my skin again and I was incredibly happy. They looked hydrated, healthy and super soft to touch and still smelt like strawberries! I then applied a moisturiser and went to sleep and when I woke up my legs looked 100% better then they did 12 hours prior! I was so incredible happy with the results from this product and it will be one I keep in my shower always.

PROS:
– Super affordable
-Easy to apply
– Smells amazing
-Super soft and nourishing on the skin
– 2 in one- exfoliant and cleanser for the skin.
– Great consistency.
-Does exactly what the bottle says it will do.
-Works so well combined with a moisturiser, you will tell the difference instantly.

CONS:
– being picky I would say a fair bit of product is needed to exfoliate the entire leg however it does soap up and can be moved across he leg surface with circular hand movements.

OVERALL:
Overall as you can see there were many more pros then cons to this product. Like I said it would be a different story and I would be a lot more strict on this products ingredients if it was a product for my face but because i was exfoliating my body specifically my legs I was not as strict or worried about the products. I deffinetley suggest this product to you all. So easy and quick to use, comes in a range of fruity flavours to suit what you guys like best and really does hydrate, moisturiser and exfoliate the skin. It is so super affordable and so super handy to have in your shower!

PRODUCT FIVE; NEUTROGENA MAKE-UP REMOVER CLEANSING TOWLETTES;
Screen Shot 2015-07-28 at 5.57.15 PM
25 pack RRP: $7.99
Available at Priceline and my Chemist Warehouse.

I have to give it to Bella box this time around! Everytime I receive a box and their are makeup wipes of facial wipes to try, they usually only provide you with one wipe to test and this makes it incredibly hard to review a product/properly try the product. I don’t know about you guys but it takes more than one small facial wipe tore move my makeup or excess dirt from my skin and to review a product correctly I require more than one small wipe to do so, what I loved about this Bella box was Nuetrogena has provided a pack of 7 wipes to try which is very generous!

When I opened these wipes I was actually incredibly surprised. They are a very large wipe and smell incredible. I don’t know about you guys but I absolutely hate using a makeup wipe or any product if it doesn’t smell nice. These wipes were super super soft to touch and super moist. I refuse to use makeup wipes if they don’t have a good amount. Moisture in them as I feel like I am using sandpaper on my skin if they are too dry. The description of the wipes state that they remove all traces of makeup, even water proof mascara, so I tested that as seen below. I placed a small amount of the above reviewed ‘modelco shadow stick’ on my wrist and let it sit there for a few hours. At the same time I also placed water proof mascara on my eyelashes and let that dry aswell. I then grabbed one of the wipes and used one small part of the wipe on my wrist. I had to move the wipe back and forth a few times to remove all of the product however it did not make my skin red as the wipe was super soft and had heaps of moisture so it wasn’t irritating on my skin at all. I then felt my skin after the moisture had dried. My wrist was super soft and smelt great!

Screen Shot 2015-07-28 at 6.04.25 PM

Next was the waterproof mascara test. As you can see in the photos he results were fantastic! The mascara came straight off! I didn’t have to force it’s no I didn’t have to push super hard either! The mascara came off so easy! What I noticed with these wipes as well as they leave a oil on your face which is highly moisturising and highly hydrating! I really was impressed by these wipes.

Screen Shot 2015-07-28 at 6.08.02 PM

PROS;
– Super soft wipe and so easy to use
– Glides over the skin so easily and moisturises the skin while removing dirt and makeup.
-Removes heavy pigments and thethick makeup.
-Removes waterproof makeup easily and without effort/force.
– Large wipes
– Does exactly what they say they will do.

CONS;
– Price. I don’t agree with how much it costs these days just for makeup wipes that get thrown put after one use. This is my only con for this product and it probably wouldn’t be a con of I hadn’t discovered targets $2 makeup wipes that remove all signs of makeup and exfoliate the skin.

OVERALL;
If you don’t mind paying almost $8.00 for makeup wipes then I highly suggest this product. They are super soft, super hydrating and super effective when it comes to removing makeup, dirt and other build ups such as sweat after a workout and excess oils from the skin. Deffinetley a great product.

PRODUCT SIX; NUXE CREME PRODIGIEUSE ENRICHIE.
Screen Shot 2015-07-28 at 5.57.34 PM
40ml RRP: $44.99
This is a bonus product added to the Bella box. It’s only a one time sample. The product is a an anti fatigue moisturising cream. I tried this product after cleansing my skin and I was very surprised by it. The cream was so so soft and super hydrating as soon as I placed it on my face. I felt super awake and surprisingly super relaxed! It’s hard to say if this product would continue to work as you only get a small amount to test. I’m not going to do pros and cons of this product as it’s very hard to review. It’s harder for me to give you guys advise on if you should use this product or not with the little bit I tried. From first impressions though. I deffinetley loved the feel and effect of this product and once I buy a retail bottle I’ll do a further review.

Spain guys, that concludes my product review on my July Bella Box subscription! I hope you guys got some vital information on the skin products used today and you are intrigued by some of the products and want to try them yourselves! Hopefully I can save you all some money when it comes to the products and you loved them just like I do! Hi all! I hope you guys had an amazing weekend and are ready for the long week ahead! This weekend I found out that a movie I had been waiting weeks to see was finally out, so I dragged my Boyfriend Ryan to come and see it with me (He acts like he doesn’t like the movies, but secretly I know he loves it) The movie I had been waiting weeks for, was a Horror film called ‘The Gallows’

The film is based around 3 High school kids who attend their school after hours to destroy the set of a play called ‘The Gallows’ that they don’t want to go ahead for opening night. However, 20 years prior to that night, the 1993 version of ‘The Gallows’ did reach opening night, and a student was accidentally hung in a gallows scene and died on set. The kids destroy the set then turn around to realize someone or something has fixed it again and everything looks ready to go. The kids soon realize that they are not alone and some things are better left untouched.

the gallows

The film was made on hand held cameras and I phones so it’s one that takes a particular type of audience to appreciate/enjoy the film. I know that a lot of my friends will refuse to see a film that is filmed like this and prefer the more professional technique, However although I also prefer the professional technique, to tell the story correctly and efficiently it needed to be told through hand held cameras and iphones, It wouldn’t make sense any other way when the story is based around sneaking around after hours at school. The film was not what I expected however. The trailers made it seem a lot more scary and a lot more terrifying then it actually was.  Yes, there were jumpy parts where the hand held camera was moved around a room slowly and things would pop out at you, However there was nothing actually scary involved in the film, In my opinion. There was only one ghost chasing scene and you only get a good look at the ghost one or two times, nothing very scary at all. The suspense and the jumpy scenes were good, however I don’t think enough of the actual Ghost was shown within this film. The trailer shows it to be a truly horrific scary film and I don’t agree with that. I jumped once at a pop out scene and that was it, the look of the ghost wasn’t scary and the movie as a whole was not scary either, however understanding the concept and the story line behind it, the way the film was made via the camera phone and hand held camera as well as the casting was great. The 4 young adults who play the main characters all did such a great job, and their real first names were used in the movie as well, which is different and makes it seem somewhat real. The stand out actor to me was Cassidy Gifford who played her part as the popular high school student perfectly and had the right amount of attitude for the film as well. Reading about the film, I realised it was a real low budget film, and with the amount of money they had to create this film, They did a good job.

There is a plot twist in the film which also has you shocked towards the end of the film, However for all you film lovers who are great with mysteries; you may pick it up throughout the film. If you are a fan of horrors and action within a film, I suggest you do check this out. My personal opinion? I wish I waited until it came out on DVD instead of going to the Cinemas to watch the film, as I think it’s not one you need to see as soon as its out, It’s something that can be waited for. The film has a good story line; however I believe more chasing scenes/more to do with the ghost itself would have been a great idea and would have been a lot more scary/horrific to the horror lovers just like myself. There was such a build-up but in the end such a simple ending. Yes, the ending worked well with the story line, however I believe the build-up of the kids surviving a night in the school the ending completely defeats the purpose of it. For my fellow horror lovers, I hope you all see where I am coming from when watching this film, The concept, and the way it is filmed is clever and appropriate but the amount of scary is just not enough for my liking, especially when the films trailers make it seem like the film is very scary.

Overall, for this film, I am giving it 1.5 Stars out of 5.

one_half-stars_0

Others may not agree with me, and think I’m being harsh, However being someone who loves getting scared from a good horror film, this film just didn’t do it for me, and the build up for it just wasn’t enough in the end. I hope you guys get a bigger scare out of it then I did.

Until Next Time,

OPEN MY BELLA BOX WITH ME- JUNE BOX REVIEW.

Hi Beautiful People! Hope the start of your week has been incredible! Today I’m doing a review on my June Bella Box, Yes I know its July but the box for June has only just recently been delivered to my house due to a mishap with my first box which I will explain, so I’m finally doing the review for My June Box!

So, some of you may think I’m crazy and be wondering what the hell a ‘Bella Box’ is. I was the same when I first heard about it. A Bella Box is a small box of beauty products that is mailed to you each month to try for less than $15.00 a month. The boxes are sent out every month to subscribers for you to test, review and then you can even purchase the full size products from the website. I know that in different countries, there are different types of company’s who do these types of subscriptions, but In Australia, Bella Box supplies the products/service. So about a month ago I decided to subscribe to Bella Box, for obvious reasons, I love to try new products and review them, plus I work in the Beauty industry and its my profession so I definitely wanted to keep up with what is hot and what isn’t currently. I paid for my first June Box direct debit from my account and received it after about 1.5 weeks after ordering. I was so excited and I opened the box straight away, but as soon as I opened the box I was very disappointed, their shower gel product had cracked through all of the products, and they were all ruined! I had nothing out of all the products that I could salvage, they all had the shower gel soaked through them and I had to throw the whole thing out. The good news was, I emailed Bella Box and they sent me a new box out free of charge because I sent them photo proof of my damaged products. They were very prompt and quick with their service, I’ll give them that! So, I received my new box last Friday and immediately opened it up because I wanted to check to make sure everything was intact and not broken ha-ha! Thank god, it wasn’t.

I was very pleased with the products in the box, they may be small but they do give you the right amount of product to be able to test things and see if you do like them enough to buy a full size. The sign up process was very easy as well. They keep you up to date via email as to where your box is when its being delivered so you know exactly when you are going to receive it. Their website is https://bellabox.com.au the steps will take you through exactly how to sign up and how to custom your box and order. Okay, let’s move away from the boring stuff and move onto what I received in my June Bella Box and what I thought of these products!

JUNE BELLA BOX PRODUCT REVIEW:

IMG_1325

Burt’s Bees Beeswax lip balm tube:

RRP: $6.95 also available at burtsbees.com.au

I adore this lip balm! So the one I got in my Bella Box has Vitamin E and peppermint in it, and if you know me you know I love peppermint! Peppermint chocolate, Peppermint Tea, Peppermint candles, Anything! I adore peppermint so I love putting this balm on my lips! Its incredible! The balm is also loaded with coconut and sunflower oils and essential fatty acids and its perfect to keep your lips hydrated and soft. Its obviously very compact too so it fits in your bag or makeup bag so easily and it bright yellow, so its not hard to find when you need it!

PROS:

– Compact

– Easy to find

– 100% Natural

– Very beneficial, I noticed a difference in the health of my lips within 3 days of using this.

– Long lasting

CONS:

  • I believe paying almost $7 for a small stick is a bit steep.
  • The Peppermint can be a bit overpowering, if you aren’t use to it, it will feel like your lips are burning a little.

OVERALL:

I would recommend this product to others for sure, Yes I don’t agree with the price, but it is such a popular product and you do get what you pay for, Burt’s Bees is 100% natural and you can tell that it does exactly what is says it does. My lips felt amazing after just 3 days of using this product. Its long lasting too so you aren’t using tubes and tubes of it all the time. Burt’s Bees balm also comes in different flavors so done worry if you aren’t a peppermint lover like myself. If you are looking at hydrating your lips and bringing back the softness, then this product is definitely for you!

Siren

Universal Beauty Cosmetics Siren Tint Stick:

RRP: $19.99 Available at bellabox.com.au

I’m half and half with this tint stick. On one side, I think it’s a great idea and an awesome way to tint your lips, however on the other side; I feel like the colour option provided is way too bright and fake for the colour to ever look somehow natural or correct. The first time I tried this product, I tried it wearing no makeup, and I looked ridiculous, it obviously just didn’t suit, The second time I tried it was when I was just about to go out with my friends and my makeup was done, and it did look a lot better that time. I personally, don’t use this product too much, But for others who love a tint and pop of colour on their lips that’s lasting for a night out, then this is a product you should definitely try.

PROS:

-Compact stick

-Easy to apply

-Lasting

-Does exactly what it says it’s going to do.

CONS:

-Price. I personally wouldn’t spend $20.00 on this product.

– The colour of the lip tint isn’t personally my first choice, I toned down colour would be a lot better and definitely more natural

-The smell and taste of it when you either accidently lick your lips or smell the stick. Others may love this smell, but I personally didn’t.

OVERALL:

I would suggest this product to a MUA or a Beauty blogger. Someone who is always buying the latest products or someone always experimenting with makeup and loves stand out lips. I would not suggest this product to someone who wears make-up just on the weekends, or has a set way they love their make-up to look or who is not confident in making their lips bolder and more noticeable. I personally won’t buy this product again, unless I can see a colour that I would like as a base.

watermelon

Original Source Skin Quench Watermelon and Jojoba Oil.

RRP: $4.99 Available at Coles, Woolworths or Chemist Warehouse.

Okay so when I started this post I wrote about an issue with my first bellabox and needing to get a second one delivered due to a complication, My issue was that my box was not secured properly and this product had snapped and all of its contents had ruined all my products in the box. The team at Bella Box obviously replaced my box thank god, but I could not get the watermelon smell off my floor and kitchen bench for days, It was so funny, Well-Not funny then but funny now. Moving on. I do love this product though, I’ve used it in the shower the last few times, and it smells amazing. Its really soft on the skin as well and when using a sponge or luffa the soap really builds up making it so easy to clean your body. The product is also really moisturizing and leaves my skin feeling nourished right before I place my moisturizer on. The product has Jojoba oil in it and it definitely helps nourish your skin throughout winter which is always dehydrating for my skin.

PROS:

-Super, Super affordable! $4.99 for a 250ml bottle.

-Lasting. A small amount will clean your entire body

-Smell. The smell of this product is amazing, and It does come in different flavours.

-Super Nourishing on the skin and so easy to use and apply.

CONS:

The container is a cheap plastic and can break very easily (trust me I know) Ha-ha! Just be careful when using it in the shower, you don’t want to drop the Soap. Ha-ha, Get it? Okay ill stop now.

OVERALL:

I would definitely recommend this product. The price is incredible, crazy cheap. The branch offers such a variety of different smells to suit your liking and is super lasting. I love this product and how easy it is to use. It does exactly what the bottle says it does and nourishes and hydrates the skin perfectly, and you smell amazing after using it too! Highly recommend to all!

romynou-logo2

Romy Nouveau Moisturising Body Balm.

RRP: 300ml $38.00. Available at romybeauty.com

This Body Balm is used to nourish and hydrate your skin, To test it, I started to use it on my legs after applying the above shower wash. So once I dried off, I would apply this balm to my legs, and I must say It is such a great product! The Product combines eucalyptus and lemon grass as well as super moisturising ingredients to keep your skin hydrated, moisturised and soft. The bottle they give you makes it easy to apple aswell.

PROS:

-Easy to apply

-Natural ingredients

– Not much product is needed to hydrate the skin

– Smells amazing

CONS:

-Price.  All though I love the product, I personally don’t agree with it costing $38.00.

– Website. As stated on the card Bella box gives you with product information, there are similar products available online. It is very hard to find this exact product on their website.

wipes1_1000_1

Model CO Double Sided Facial Wipes:

RRP: $7.99 For 25 Wipes. Available at Priceline and modelcocosmetics.com

These wipes are to remove makeup, exfoliate and cleanse. I felt like for the price of 25 wipes, they should have been a lot better unfortunately. I don’t think the wipes are moist enough, which causes the makeup to not come off as easy. I found that with one wipe, not much makeup was coming off my face, I was actually pretty disappointed with them. One side it used to exfoliate and the other to cleanse, however you can use both sides of many different wipes to do so. I personally believe that the $2.00 facial wipes you can get from Target (Target brand) that come in exfoliation form, sensitive form, combination form, and are only $2. They work a wonder, so I would definitely suggest them over these.

PROS:

-Smell Nice

-Soft on skin.

CONS:

-Cost

-Not as effective as they lead on.

-Don’t take all your makeup off as easy as they lead on.

-Do exactly what cheaper brands do.

So these are the products received in my June Bella Box, Im currently awaiting my July box! I hope this little review was helpful for you all and you took some great information away from this. I hope I save you guys some money on products that aren’t worth buying aswell guys! If you have any questions, feel free to tweet me @teganaudrey.

Until Next time

Kmart shopping Haul- What I got for under $100.00
Hey guys! Hope your week has been amazing! So I thought I would change up my posts this week and let you guys in on some of my shopping favourites. I’m currently a student so adjusting from earning a full time wage last year to now halving that and having to budget on everything it isn’t only stressful but extremely hard! Being a student, beauty therapist and makeup artist and having to buy equipment/products can often leave you out of pocket- spouse need to know where to shop and what to look out for! Now I’m not saying buying products that are poorly made or beauty products that have nasty ingredients- just products that are affordable and work well! This is my first hall post/affordable product hall and blog post about it but I’ll definitely start to do more depending on where I shop etc.
This post is about my shop to Kmart – for anyone who is into fashion or beauty and makeup stick around- this post is definitely for you! Okay let’s get started!
I only get paid monthly from my job (I know it sucks, it makes it so much harder) so I need to budget and even that can be extremely hard so choosing what products to buy and what I can spend. The other day I went to Kmart and did a complete hall and got so many products for under $100.00 it was insane! Okay so enough of my babbling on I’ll get into the products and items I bought and what I like about them and their cheap prices!

Kmart Woman’s Boots: $29.00

I adore these! They are super cute, super girly and so stylish! They go so well with black jeans or white jeans too! They’re high and surprisingly easy to walk in! The reason I purchased these is because I am a major boot buyer! They are my favourite shoe to wear! I am not a big high heel fan so when I go out I usually wear a nice pair of boots and these are perfect! They have a massive range so I suggest checking them all out, they’re are so many different styles. And they were only $29.00!!!

Scrap book album: $11.00

X2 Paper stacks for scrap booking: $1.50 each.

So as you guys may know I am majorly into arts and crafts and folio work- I have just started a new project where I’m creating folio looks and makeup looks to go with them from inspiration! That’s a Whole other project that I am so excited to shows you guys but for now let’s continue. The album has over 1000 pieces to use and the 2 books that were only $1.50 each with many pages of cute designs are perfect for my new folio creation! Earlier that day I checked out spotlight and art riots and they were so overpriced for anything to do with scrap booking! To get all of these for under $15.00 is incredible! (Pictured above)
Leopard print canvas shoes: $10.00

I cannot get enough of these cute little canvas shoes! I have different colours but have always had my eye on getting a leopard print canvas shoe but was not paying $100 for them like I saw them for at my local shops! Hell no. I’d rather spend that on makeup.. That isn’t much better… But it’s true haha!!! Honestly though for $10.00 could you really go wrong? They are super cute, super comfortable and go with so many of my clothes! They’re on sale from $20.00 so get your little butts to Kmart!! (Pictured above)
Baked eyeshadow quad: $8.00

I can not get enough of this palette! It is super super cute and super affordable! The colours are so pretty and pearlescent, in the photo I’ve added the colours do not look very visible but once they are on the eyes they do stand out! I highly recommend this quad to any makeup lovers out there- and for $8.00 you can’t go wrong.

Elf Concealer: $8.00

This cute little 4 coloured palette is my go too for cream contouring. I use the darker colours to emphasise my cheeks and the lighter colours to highlight under my eye area and cheek bones! It’s such a handy little kit and so easy to store! It’s nice and compact and the product is easy to apply! When I bought this kit I was worried about the quality and how it would stay on after powder and I was so happy that it stayed on and worked well! Elf has such a great product range and is super cheap and affordable!

Elf eye primer and liner sealer: $8.00

Okay so this was one product I bought and was amazed by it! It is super cool and fun to use! Okay so this stick is double sided- one side is an eye primer which you place on your lids before applying eye shadow and the other side is a brush that you can dip into any eye shadow you want.. And turn it into a liner! It absolutely amazes me- I love this and think it is so smart! Now you can have a glittered liner so easily! I always say how I wish some of my eyeshadow colours come in eyeliners and now that wish has come true- most Elf products are only $8.00 so you really can’t go wrong!

Eyelash curler: $3.00

Yes you read right- $3.00! This Curler is super cute! Smaller then my other ones yet works very effectively and well it comes with a spare liner too which is effective and helpful!

Mint cork board and whiteboard: $3.00

I’m obsessed with this! I am super into organising myself and knowing what I have planned for the week- this cute little half cork board half whiteboard is perfect for that! And $3.00 come on! What an absolute bargain! I’ve never seen one of these boards so cheap! It even comes with 2 magnets for your whiteboard!

X3 OXX eyeshadows (2 quads and 1 duo) : $2.00 each, $6.00 all together.

These are so cute! The two quad eyeshadows supply glittered colours that you can use all 4 for one look. I bought the brown neutral quad and the blue/purple quad. The colours a super stand out and look great on the eyes- I’m a massive fan of eyeshadow quads so these really hit the spot- and they were only $2.00 each so the choice to buy them was a simple one! I also bought x1 duo glittered kit whichever was also only $2.00 – this is a dark purple/black duo and I’m obsessed. The colours work so well for a smokey eye and again, for only $2.00 you can’t go wrong.

Not very important, but I also bought some glue and glitter- but they are average and prices were the same so it’s not something I’m going to bother talking about haha!
All together I paid $92.75 for everything and I was very impressed with all my products and purchases! Super affordable and products that last and are quality products!
I have some exciting news to share about adding videos to my blog by starting up a YouTube Chanel! I hate recording videos with me talking to a camera and I’m absolutely horrible at editing but I want to be able to show you guys products properly and explain myself better so I’ll be doing that very very soon!

until next time guys

Tegan Audrey
